Used for mating the crankcase halves on vintage Mercury outboards, Loctite 518 cures when confined in the absence of air between close-fitting metal surfaces. It is an anaerobic gasketing material designed for use on rigid aluminum flanged mating surfaces. Fills gaps up to 0.25mm and forms a flexible, chemical-resistant seal that will not tear or decay. Parts disassemble easily, even after extended service. This modern, high-tech product is a vast improvement over the (now banned) white lead specified in the original Mercury service procedures and over Mercury p/n 92-28804 or Loctite 514 sealers specified in later service publications. Includes primer/accelerator which is required for use on "in-active" surfaces such as alluminum
