With the fluted stainless wrap-around cowl, these outboards define Mid-Century style. The Mark 55's were rated at 40 horsepower but routinely developed much more. They can run circles around a "JohhnyRude" with the same rating. This Mark 55E (for electric) is 12-volt electric start and incorporates a built-in alternator to charge the boat's battery. This motor is for boats with a 15" transom

This motor is a great candidate for restoration. It is complete and has good compression. The prop and all castings are still in good shape with no cracks or breaks. To be show quality, the motor would have to be painted and detailed. Also, expect to do a thorough servicing including rebuilding the carburetors and fuel pump, replacing the impeller, fuel hoses, spark plugs and changing the gear case oil. (These items are all readily available from us and other sources)

We also can supply a new electrical harness and a remnaufactured single-lever remote control with new cables at extra cost
